Things to Consider
Planning for off-campus study is about so much more than picking a location. It is about intentionally integrating an experience with your time on-campus to broaden and enrich your Bowdoin education.
Each student may have a different entry point into this process. Perhaps you are hoping to progress in a world language, conduct field research, transfer credit towards your Bowdoin major, or explore a new culture. Maybe you are seeking an urban setting, or you are excited to live in a more remote part of the world that you may not otherwise travel to. You could be drawn to living with a homestay, or to living among local university students in an international residence hall.
As you consider these factors and more, the OCS Office is here to support you. We encourage you to read more about the differences between study away options in this section as a launching point for your research into which opportunities could be the right fit for you.
